Thomas Jacquin, a talented and passionate young winemaker, has set up shop in Marnoz, Jura, where he combines viticulture with the cultivation of medicinal plants. After six years of experience with Stéphane Tissot, he took the leap in 2017 with a small hectare of vines in Arbois, planted with Savagnin and Poulsard, the region’s emblematic grape varieties. His vines, lovingly tended using organic farming practices for several years, benefit from natural treatments made from clay and plants he grows or forages locally. And in his winery? Nature takes center stage! No interventions, zero additives, no sulfur – it’s all about letting the grapes shine. From just his second vintage in 2018, Thomas’s wines stood out for their precision and character. In his small winery, a few kilometers north of Arbois, he crafts natural wines that are bold, mineral-driven, and refreshingly honest. Far from the trend of overly light wines, his cuvées reveal their full potential after some time in the cellar. In addition to his own domaine, Thomas also collaborates with Domaine de la Loue. This young winemaker, already so promising, is set to surprise and delight us even more in the future.
