The Domaine Berthaut is a family-owned winery established in the late 18th century in Fixin. After several generations, Guy Berthaut took over in 1930, expanding the business by selling wines in bottles and acquiring vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin. In the 1960s, the domaine began exporting to the United States. In 1974, Vincent and Denis Berthaut continued the expansion by purchasing plots in Fixin and building a new cellar in 2005. In 2013, Amélie Berthaut, Denis's daughter, joined the winery after completing her oenology studies, forming Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet by merging some of the family’s Gerbet vineyards. In 2017, her husband Nicolas Faure, who had worked at prestigious estates, became the head of viticulture. The domaine now covers 18 hectares, primarily in Fixin but also in Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, and Flagey-Echezeaux, with 90% red wine production. The vineyards are cultivated with environmental respect, and winemaking follows a non-interventionist approach.
