Since returning to the family estate in 2008, Jean-Marc Sélèque has successfully blended heritage with innovation. After working alongside his father, he took flight by imposing his own vision while respecting family traditions. The vines he cultivates are scattered across several villages, particularly on the southern slopes of Épernay, as well as in the Marne Valley (Moussy, Mardeuil, Dizy, Boursault) and in Vertus, in the Côte des Blancs. These diverse terroirs provide him with a rich palette, which he uses to craft unique champagnes. His approach, both modern and thoughtful, is driven by a constant pursuit of balance. Jean-Marc doesn’t follow a predetermined path; he lets the wine guide his choices. Depending on the characteristics of the vintage and the juice, he alternates between different types of aging—stainless steel tanks, barrels, concrete eggs, or even the innovative Wine Globes. Similarly, malolactic fermentations are not always standard, and the dosage is precisely adjusted based on the cuvée.This freedom in approach and meticulous attention to detail have borne fruit. The estate has quickly gained recognition, notably with the award of its second star, confirming that Jean-Marc Sélèque has mastered the art of marrying tradition and modernity in his champagnes.
