Cécile Brunet Randon was born in Beaune but grew up in the Monts-du-Lyonnais region, where her father worked as a veterinarian. After finishing high school, she returned to Burgundy to study viticulture and oenology. Cécile Brunet Randon began her studies in Beaune, where she earned a BTS in Viticulture and Oenology at the “Viti” in 2003. She then continued in Dijon, completing a DNO in 2005, followed by a Master’s degree in Wine, Vine, and Terroir at the IUVV-Institut Jules Guyot in 2006. Upon completing her studies, she worked at various estates in Burgundy, including Domaine Parent in Pommard and the Athenaeum in Beaune, as well as abroad. In South Africa, Cécile Brunet Randon collaborated with Hamilton Russell Vineyards in the Hemel-en-Aarde region, and in the United States, she worked primarily at Littoraï (California), Domaine Drouhin Oregon (Oregon), and Cayuse Vineyards (Washington). She lived in the United States for about ten years before returning to Burgundy and settling there permanently in early 2019. The Domaine Brunet Randon has historical ties to Meursault. Cécile Brunet Randon’s maternal grandparents, winemakers in Meursault, cultivated their vineyards and produced wine under her grandfather’s name, Domaine André Brunet. Their last vintage bottled under that name was in 1999. Subsequently, her grandfather fell ill and passed away in 2005. Her grandmother then took over the management of the estate on her own. At that time, all production was sold to various Burgundy négociants. After her grandmother’s death, Cécile Brunet Randon and her mother took over several plots of the vineyard. Today, the estate spans approximately 3 hectares, with all the plots located in Meursault. The year 2022 marked their first vintage bottled under their management, with a small production divided into two cuvées: Meursault Village Le Limozin (3 pièces), Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes-Dessus (2 pièces). This vintage will always be special for Cécile Brunet Randon, as it coincided with the birth of her son. For now, production remains modest but is expected to grow gradually in the coming years. In 2023, an additional cuvée, Meursault 1er Cru Les Genévrières, will join the range. Cécile Brunet Randon favors a classic and traditional Burgundian winemaking approach. Fermentation and aging are done entirely in barrels, with 12 months of aging. Sulfur addition is kept moderate. She aims for her wines to reflect a certain elegance: precise, distinctive, and true to the Meursault style, with well-ripened fruit, no heaviness, and wines that are ample, round, and generous.
